In one of the most demanding soccer leagues in the world, it isn’t surprising to see legendary soccer player Wayne Rooney finally begin to deteriorate. Widely regarded as a world-renowned player in the soccer community, Wayne Rooney has recently come unto fire for having a tough time performing on the pitch for Manchester United.

According to ESPN fc, Wayne Rooney has participated in 19 games, has scored only 1 goal, has made 4 assists, and has made 18 shots. 18 goals and only one has been netted so far, making Rooney one of the fastest declining professional players.

Wayne Rooney’s atrocious performance was highlighted in Manchester United’s recent match against Watford. Reported by the Mirror UK, “He took nine corners/free-kicks – but only created a chance for United with TWO of them. He didn’t create a single chance from open play. He didn’t play a single through ball. He didn’t ‘take on’ an opponent, so never actually went past a Watford player. He didn’t have a shot on target. In fact, he only managed one shot OFF target. He didn’t make a single tackle. Not one! He went up for three ‘aerial duels’ – and lost two of them. In fact, his entire defensive contribution amounted to one interception, one block… and committing one foul.”

Alongside his mediocre performance for Manchester United, Wayne Rooney’s captain’s spot on England’s National Team is also under fire for a problem off the soccer pitch. At a recent wedding reception, Rooney had been drinking heavily and rather than going to bed, he disappeared before returning to the party, according to sources at The Grove. Because of this late night binge drinking, Wayne Rooney showed up to practice hungover and was unable to function properly. Gareth Southgate, the England National Team’s boss, already has plans on replacing Rooney with another player for the England National Team Captain.

Mourinho, Manchester United’s manager,  has made it clear that he expects better from his captain. Now the world can only wait and watch to see what Wayne Rooney makes of his diminishing career.
